I injured my C6-7 when my chair collapsed and I have had this tinnitus. I can bend my head down and the tinnitus virtually stops and when I straighten my head back up the sound comes back. I can clench my teeth or bend my neck back and the sound gets louder. Its like a hissing sound and then like seashells over your ears.
The ENT said he saw ear canal movement and the paper thin boney structure was broken down and when I bend my head forward the canal is open and when I straighten it, the canal becomes closed or smaller thus the hissing.
He is sending me for a hearing test but he said he saw no tumor or disease of the drum, infection etc, so this made him feel good.
I have searched the internet but I have not read about boney ear structures degenerating and allowing the ear canal to become restricted. Has anyone else heard of this?
I feel very strongly that the tinnitus is related to my ruptured disk at the C6-7 which has caused intense head and neck pain. Am doing traction at home to see if this will help.
Thanks
Chuck
