Tinnitus with Earphones

I need to buy a pair of earphones to listen to meditation CD but have been suffering from Tinnitus. Are there any particular makes or types of earphones that ought to be avoided or can be used safely by Tinnitus sufferers. Should I not be using earphones at all ?
