I have had an inner ear problem for over two years. I had fistula surgery on one ear, and the other ear rings. I thought I had a bilateral fistula, and am being told the tinnitus is caused by tmj. It is very frustrating because doctors all have different diagnoses. One said meneires, then he sent me to a dental clinic for tmj! I had trauma to the affected ear, and was convinced it was an injury causing pain, not the tmj. All this does make me nervous and I am reading here that tinnitus can be caused by other reasons. I researched tinnitus and read of many reasons causing it. I have a sore jaw and sometimes when I wear the retainer, both my ears hurt. I get queasy, dizzy and off balance. I wonder how many here have this problem? My one dr. said it is vestibular neuronitis, and inflammation of the balance nerve. I know I have an inner ear problem as well. That only makes it worse. I get motion sickness and cannot walk far like I used to years ago. Anyone stagger here? Or feel drunk when they walk? The ear dr. yesterday blamed my symptoms on tmj. Anyone in the same boat as me?
