I also find the benefits significant. I have no desire to stop
taking xanax either. I find I have no side effects. I don't
even get drowsy anymore -- I did the first couple of weeks.
I take .5 mg 3 x daily.

It is my understanding that this drug sedates the cochlear nerve
enough to lower tinnitus and hyperacusis. I could be wrong on
that part -- I don't have the medical knowledge, but seem to
remember my doc telling me that. I feel about xanax like a
diabetic would feel about insulin. I need it to function.
I do not crave it like a drug. I take it as prescribed very
carefully and never vary my dose. It keeps me on an even
keel. I still have the tinnitus and the hyperacusis, but
I am able to cope with the noisy world of work and life,
and I know I can't cope without the xanax. I would be sick
all the time.
