What the others say about xanax is most likely true. It is habit forming,
is usually used for people with depression (you can easily get depressed
when having tinnitus, I do), and as a sedative, tranqualizer, etc.
I got T a year ago, bilateral, probably related to either AIED or Cogan's
Syndrome. But at any rate, I have about a 50% hearing loss as well. I read
about xanax and discussed with my GP. Very low doses "usually" avoid the
habit dependency and provide for "some" relief. I put those words in quotes
because these things are different for everyone.
I noticed no one mentioned dosages. I usually take 0.5mg day, I usually
break the pill in half and take 0.25 mg 2X day. My doc thinks I should use
"as needed", more or less like an aspirn like for a headache or something.
We need to talk more because I seem to get best results if I stick to the
0.5 mg/day routine. When it is going good, I stop and I don't seem to have
any withdrawl symtoms, but then my T usually starts to get worse again. I
am still experimenting with this. I have gone the Ginko, and other herbal,
vitamin route and it has minimal impact. I am kinda high strung individual,
so the xanax just takes the edge off so that I function.
I have been experimenting with xanax for about 3 weeks now, I keep a log on
dosages and other factors and track my T severity. I hope to draw better
conclusions and determine what impact the different things have after some
time.
From what I can tell, all of this is a trial and error experimentation.
This is even happening with doctors I see, I have to trial and error on
their specialties in order to get some real good testing, diagnoses and
help. I am not done with that part of it either. My 3rd and final ENT will
be the U of M Medical Center. I don't know of anyone or anyother place that
could be better in my investigations.
Good Luck to you, but do be carefull with drugs, know the side effects
before you get into them.
