Xanax (Alprazolam) causes tinnitus side effects in approximately 6.6% of the
people taking it according to Tinnitus FAQ v2.7. On the flip side, a double
blind study showed that 76% of the subjects taking Xanax had tinnitus
reductions. You could be falling into the 6.6% group. Can you go off you
med (with doc's guidance of course) or try another med for anxiety and then
go back on to test yourself? This should not be a problem since you are on
a low dose. Sometimes this is the only way to find out. I used this
method with my doc to see if Xanax would help reduce my T and found it does.
If you change meds, make sure you or your doc checks the new med against
those known to cause tinnitus side effects (refer Tinnitus FAQs).
