Hi everyone,
I have had tinnitus (result of explosion) for over 5 years. It is getting
worse. I have taken Xanax for at least 4 years (1 at night to help sleep)
but now doesn't seem to help much. On advice of my Dr. tried Elavil and
Ativan (low doses). After 2 nights of no sleep went back to Xanax. He
wants to get me off Xanax because of the possibility of addiction. I don't
feel addicted in the sense that I "have to have it" but if it helps, so
what? I also take one 60 mg. of gingko (2 if I remember!) a day plus some
other vitamins. I have tried having the radio on, music, etc. at night to
help sleep (with earplugs so as not to bother my husband) but really does
not seem to "cover" the T. My question is, has anyone else's T gotten worse
over several years? Has Elavil or Atavan helped anyone and at what dose?
I hear my T all the time, but not as nerve racking in the daytime if I keep
busy; but at night sheer torture. Would appreciate any comments. (yes, I
am a member of ATA ever since I found out I had this miserable stuff!.
