There are a few other cholesterol lowering meds, but they do fit the same
classification as Lipitor unfortunately (stanten family (sp?)). Niacin is a
non stanten (sp?) vit or min that sometimes works for high cholesterol.
You have to watch your dosage, just like with Lipitor. I take 10mg Lipitor
(lowest dosage) and 100mg Niacin each day. Doc thinks is okay for now. He
may just have me take the Niacin alone after next blood test if cholesterol
is down. Maybe it will stay down with only the Niacin treatment, who knows.
I may have to up it also to make it work. We will see.
