I flew in an Airbus 320 a few years ago and asked for seats right behind the
wings. Turns out that seats right behind the wings are right beside the
engines. I had to plug my ears with balls of tissue to stand the noise upon
takeoff and whilst climbing, almost half the trip (about 40 minutes). I
can't believe that the sound decibel level at that point could be legal or
contravene some standard. It certainly wouldn't be torerated in our
industrial regulations here in a work place without ear protection for that
length of exposure. Ithink it is almost always wise to sit in the front
