Loud Noises at Work and Hearing Protection Gear

Posted by solrac

I recently began work at a plant that has noise levels of about 90 dB.
I wear the muffs and plugs which have each above 25 for the NRR. I
now notice that my T is much louder. My ENT told me that as long as
you wear the hearing protection theres no problem. But obviously
there is.
Can the reduced sound I hear, lets say 75 dB at 8 hrs a day be harmful
in any way towards T or losing hearing? Is it possible to develop
hyperacusis in this situation?
Has anyone experinced this and has some words of advice

Thanks
