My ENT wants to do an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) test.
On p. 229 of “Tinnitus:Questions and Answers” by Jack Vernon and B.T.
Sanders,
they state that this test uses loud sounds that can make tinnitus worse,
sometimes permanently. They also state that it is a test for acoustic neuroma
and an alternate test is an MRI (which can be taken with earplugs).
My ENT insists that the test is safe. He claims that it is given to babies.
He
won't refer me for an MRI.
Who is right?
