Hello group. I found this group researching my condition. I'd liketo
describe my situation and see if anyone has any feedback. I am losing a lot
of sleep lately and feel like I'mn losing my mind, too.
I had a case of what apparently was walking penumonia for a few weeks. One
night, I went to bed with a sore throat and cold symptoms and I woke up in
the middle of the night very manic, unable to focus my thoughts, full of
anxiety, and with major ringing in my ears. It has been over three weeks and
the ringing has not really gone away.
I went to my doctor and told him I suspected I had pneumonia, which I was
successfully treated for. Week before last I told the doctor about the
tinnitus and asked him if I could have had an ear infection that sometimes
accompanies walking pneumonia. He prescribed guafenesin, which did nothing,
and then steroids. I have completed the steroid treatment and the tinnitus
is still there. I am losing a whole lot of sleep. The doc prescribed some
Ativan but I have to take 2 -3 of those little pills to get to sleep. And
now the script is gone - I was up all night again.
I'm sure my condition is not as bad as some but I'm having sleepless nights
and I'm getting depressed. It's hard to focus at work. I'm emotinally
exhausted.
Has anyone here gotten tinitus as a result of an ear infection? How long
might it last? Should the steroids have eliminated the tinnitus? I know you
can't diagnose me. I am looking for hope. I've tried running a fan,
relaxing, meditating, etc., to no avail. I NEED SOME SLEEP!!!!! God, I am
hoping it goes away.
Thanks.
Jack
